Altha J. Satter Obituary

Altha Jean Satter, age 61, of Colfax WI, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Jean was born on October 9, 1951, to Arthur and Ruth (Selvig) Satter in Eau Claire, WI. She attended Colfax High School, graduating in 1969. After high school, she attended UW, Stout and graduated with a degree in Dietetics. She worked for the State of Alaska school system as a Dietitian for many years. After returning home to WI, she was a self-employed dairy farmer. She took great pride in the genetics of her dairy herd and enjoyed watching her daughters show the herd animals at local fairs. When she had time while farming she created beautiful stained glass portraits of some of the prized Holsteins and other fun creations. After the herd dispersal, Jean set out on another career path taking classes at UW, Eau Claire in 1993, later graduating with a degree in Computer Programming, which brought her to Madison working at Kraft as a computer programming analyst. Soon, Jean's health brought her home to retire where she focused on her labor of love, creating her sanctuary of flowers, shrubs, and trees. She enjoyed cooking and is best known for her pasta and potato salads along with oriental dishes. The grandchildren often asked her to make her special french silk pie, carrot cake, cheesecake and lemon bars. Jean was a caring mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished birthdays and holidays with her family together. Jean is survived by her two daughters, Jenny Dressel (David Riebe) and Jessy (Kevin) Kadinger; grandchildren, Courtney Dressel, Austin Dressel, John Riebe, Rowdy Kadinger and Ariah Kadinger; siblings, Kenny (Sue) Satter and Jim (Diane) Satter; along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John Satter. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave., Colfax WI, from 11am to 2pm, with a time of reflection beginning at 1:30pm.
