Anton K. “Tony” Domagala, age 88, died unexpectedly, Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his home in Colfax. Tony was born November 11, 1926 in Grundy County, IL to Anton and Pauline (Lavicka) Domagala. He was a graduate of Gardner High School in Gardner, IL. Following graduation, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Army. He married Lillian “Lil” Surlak and they moved to the Eau Claire/Menomonie area. Tony worked for Uniroyal in Eau Claire until retiring in about 2005. In his early years, Tony enjoyed playing softball and bowling. Being six foot seven inches tall, his friends and teammates named him, “Big Boy.” Over the years his bowling team attended tournaments in all fifty states and brought home trophies from ALL of them. Tony loved to hunt and fish and on any given Sunday afternoon you would find him glued to the t.v. watching NASCAR or a football game. Any other time he was probally watching a baseball game. He loved to garden and each year the garden got just a little bit bigger. Canning the “harvest” was also a lot of fun for him. Tony is survived by four children, John of Colfax, Dennis (Lanell) of Jacksonville, NC, Tom (Ann) of Cottage Grove, MN. and Toni Marie (Chuck) Tetzlaff of Colfax; seven grandchildren, Trista, Tammy, Misti, Sarah, T.J., Joe and Tiffany; six great grandchildren, Emma, Cameron, Charity, Timothy, Emma and Olivia; one brother, Zeb; three sisters, Irene (Peachy) Wakman, Vi Crater and Lucille Lawless, all of Illinois; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and of course, his pet dog and companion, Duke. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Pauline Domagala; his wife, Lil; sister-in-law, Louise; and two brothers-in-law, Donald and Lyle. A visitation will take place at Sampson Funeral Home, Colfax, WI, on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 2:00 pm. until 4:00 p.m. with a Time Of Reflection at 4:00 p.m. Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax is serving the family.
