Catherine Anna Hustad

Catherine Anna Hustad, 96, passed away on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Barron Care and Rehab Facility in Barron, WI, with her family gathered around her. Catherine was born January 11, 1922, in Burt, IA, to Arthur and Anna (Jain) Miller. They left Iowa to farm in the Elk Mound area. Catherine met and married Orrin Haugli. They lived, farmed, and raised five children there. After Orrin passed away, Catherine met and married Roy Hustad of Cumberland, WI. They lived on the Hustad family farm. Catherine loved living in the country. She enjoyed farming and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Some special memories of Catherine include her personally designed cakes and quilts made for those she loved. We all enjoyed eating her chicken and biscuits. She enjoyed visiting Madeline Island with her daughter-in-law, Kathryn Erickson, and son, Paul Haugli. She loved seeing her children and grandchildren on the Erickson float in the Madeline Island 4th of July parades. She will be missed by all including her kitty companions and birds she fed and watched outside her window. She was survived on the Haugli side by her sons, Orrin (Judy), Paul (Katie), and John (Vicki); daughters, Mary Pfeiffer and Anita (Dave) Immel; grandchildren, Lucretia Haugli, Ivan Haugli, Miranda (Matt) Robinson, and Charlie Haugli; step-granddaughter, Trish Spalding; great-grandson, Samuel Robinson; step-grandsons, Vincent, Joseph, and Andrew Motzkus. She is also survived by her Hustad family, stepchildren, Allen (Linda) Hustad, Sharon (Robert) Neuenfeldt, and Greg (Virginia) Hustad; 6 step-grandchildren, James, Kristy, Jake, Taylor, Shawn, and Michael; 12 step-great-grandchildren, Aedan, Cole, Sadie, Corbin, Victor, Clara, Caleb, Ruth, Evan, Alyssa, Riley, and Levi. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orrin; granddaughter, Tiffany Haugli, and son-in-law, Edward Pfeiffer. She is further preceded by her Hustad family, husband, Roy; and stepson, Loris Hustad. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 1120 11th Ave, Cumberland, WI, with Pastor Mike Brubaker officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 E Railroad Ave, Colfax, WI, and again one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Internment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Elk Mound, WI.
