Clinton Jenson Obituary

Clinton M. Jenson, 92, of Chippewa Falls, WI, and formerly a long time resident of Colfax, WI, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital in Chippewa Falls. He was born on June 7, 1921, in Elk Mound, WI, a son of John and Amanda (Lindquist) Jenson. On August 3, 1943, Clinton married Margaret Stobb of Elk Mound at the Elk Mound Parsonage. Clinton and Margaret celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary last summer. Clinton was a graduate of Oak Hill Grade School and Colfax High School. He served on the Frazier School board for many years and was active in church. Clinton served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married while home on furlough and returned to finish his training before being sent abroad and landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944. Clinton continued serving in the European Theatre (Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe) until the end of the war and returned home in October of 1945. For a time, he worked at National Presto in Eau Claire. Buying a farm in 1948, near Colfax, brought joy and he farmed with horses until the tractor took over. Beef cattle replaced the dairy cattle, and Clinton started working construction. Some of the construction projects included the old nursing home in Colfax, buildings at Stout University, and highway bridges. Clinton had a strong work ethic and he would rather be working than sitting in a chair. He had a great love for his family and friends and always focused on the good side of people. Clinton is survived by his wife, Margaret; two children, Carolyn (Rick) Rasmussen and Roger (Vikki) Jenson; four grandchildren, Amy (Rev. Shawn) Stafford, Ryan Rasmussen, Erik (Joy) Jenson, and Erin (Laurence III) Archambeau; six great-grandchildren, Solveig, Jonah and Anju Stafford, Lukas and Josiah Jenson, and Delaney Archambeau; two soon-to-be-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil and John (Marion) Jenson; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jenson and Agnes Holte; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Amanda; two sisters, Gulinda Christopherson and Olena Christopherson-Brandt; four brothers, Walter, Adolph, Eilert and Waldemar Jenson; sisters-in-law, Ardell, Kathryn and Myrtle Jenson; and brothers-in-law, Ben and Alton Christopherson. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 E. Railroad Ave. in Colfax, WI, with Pastor Robert Koepp officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Sampson Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Barum Lutheran Cemetery in the Township of Elk Mound. Military Honors will be conducted by Russell-Toycen American Legion Post 131.
