Dorothy Sonnenberg Obituary

Dorothy M. Sonnenberg, 89, of Colfax, passed away at the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center, Wednesday, August 17, 2016. Dorothy was born on January 16, 1927 in Chippewa Falls to Martin and Alba (Evenson) Berg. She grew up in rural Colfax and graduated from Colfax High School in 1945. On August 1, 1945, Dorothy married Harold Sonnenberg. They farmed and raised their family in the town of Grant, rural Colfax. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church – Popple Creek. She is survived by her children, Gary (Pamela) Sonnenberg of San Diego, CA, Joan (Keith) Ewings of Bloomer, and Alan (Alaine) Sonnenberg of Colfax; 6 grandchildren, Nathan (Eryka) Sonnenberg, Michael Sonnenberg, Amy (Ray) Tousey, Chad (Andrea) Ewings, Jill (Cory) Bjerke, and Aaron (Brittany) Sonnenberg; 4 great-grandchildren, Anthony Tousey, Nolan and Callen Ewings, and Isla Sonnenberg; as well as many nieces nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; brothers, Alvin, Oliver, and Meryln; sister, Leona Paulus; and great-granddaughter, Harlow Sonnenberg. A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 22, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church - Popple Creek, 12004 County Highway W., Colfax, WI - 54730 with Pastor Jerry Ewings officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Sampson Funeral home in Colfax, is assisting the family. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center for the exceptional care given to their mother, Dorothy.
