Gordon Mittelstadt Obituary

Gordon LaVerne Mittelstadt, 84, of Colfax, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Eau Claire Hospital. Gordon was born on August 6, 1930, in the Town of Tainter, to Clifford and Nora (Maukstad) Mittelstadt. He attended Colfax High School and graduated with the Class of 1948. On February 15, 1975, Gordon married Blanche Knutson at Holden Lutheran Church. Gordon worked hard on the farm milking cows, raising beef, pigs and chickens. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, bowling, dart ball and tinkering in the shop with his many projects. Gordon is survived by his wife of 40 years, Blanche; children, Dale (Teri) Knutson, Catherine (Larry) Froseth, Roger (Angie Larson) Knutson and Donald (Pam) Knutson; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Welk, Lois (Bob) Bosshart and Carolyn Grinovich; brother, William Mittelstadt; and also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt and uncle, Emmy and Clifford Matthews; brothers, Gale, Curtis and Charles Mittelstadt; and sisters, Lorraine Johnson and Fern Peck. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 River Street in Colfax, with Pastor Bob Schoenknecht officiating. Burial will be at Hillgrove Cemetery in the Town of Colfax. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 E. Railroad Ave. in Colfax, and again one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
