Eveline Katherine Suvada, 96, of Colfax, died peacefully at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center, on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. She was born in on June 9, 1918, to Simon and Emma (Bakkon) Froiland. Katherine was raised on farms in Litchfield, MN, and Colfax, WI. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1936, and went on to Minnesota Institute of Business, where she received a diploma in Bookkeeping. Katherine worked as a bookkeeper for the creamery in Sand Creek, WI, where she met her future husband. She married George Suvada on January 1, 1941, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. They moved to Colfax, where she was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Colfax Tractor and Implement, until his death. Katherine was a member of Colfax Lutheran Church. She joined the Quilter’s Group and looked forward to the fellowship and the quilting. Katherine enjoyed gardening, needlework, canning and spending time with her family. Katherine is survived by her daughter, Gwen O’Hara; sons, David (Priscilla) Suvada and Richard (Anna) Suvada; daughter-in-law, Linda Suvada; sister-in-law, Amie (Froiland) Dobbs; grandchildren, Kelly (Liz) O’Hara, Eric (Tami) Suvada, Chad Suvada, Tina (Jerry) Pitts, Dane Suvada and Heath Suvada; step-grandson, Patrick (Jill) O’Hara; great-grandchildren, Shane and Max O’Hara, Sawyer, Abby and Maverick Suvada; and Zoey and Sadie Pitts; step-great-grandchildren, Annie and Joey O’Hara; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; son, Gary Suvada; and son-in-law, Patrick O’Hara; brothers and their wives, Donald (Margaret) Froiland, Martin (Helen) Froiland, Elvin (Elaine) Froiland and Phillip Froiland; and special friend, Ken Reed. The family would like to thank the staff at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center for all their compassion and care given to Katherine. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be directed to Colfax Lutheran Church or the Quilter’s Group. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 River St. in Colfax, with Pastor Les Walck officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax. Sampson Funeral Home is serving her family.
