Kevin J. Sigmund, age 57, of Colfax, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 28, 2017, surrounded by his family at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire. Kevin was born on January 16, 1960, in Medford, WI, to the late Walter and Isabel Sigmund. After attending high school, Kevin moved to Wausau to attend Northcentral Technical College where he obtained a degree in welding. He worked for Murray Machinery. During his time in Wausau, Kevin met his true love, Cheryl Tesch. They were united in marriage on April 11, 1981. Together they celebrated 36 wonderful years together. They then moved to Menomonie and later to Colfax where Kevin was employed in the area until the time of his illness. Kevin was a member of Faith Free Church where he served as an elder. He had a servant's heart and loved the Lord. He was generous and was always willing to help others. Kevin loved and cherished his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, traveling with his wife to South Dakota, and watching the Green Bay Packers. Kevin is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Colfax; daughters, Joanie Sigmund of Colfax and Rose (Steve) Baer of Altoona; son, Luke (Petra) Sigmund of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Lara, Corbin, Gabriel, Gideon, Maya, and a little boy due in October; siblings, Richard (Janet) Sigmund of Medford, WI, Nancy (Leon) Frischman of Escanaba, MI, Neal Sigmund of Watertown, WI, Jean Thums of Medford, WI, Leon (Diane) Sigmund of Callicoon, NY, Gary (Shiela) Sigmund of Wausau, WI, Joyce (Gene) Denzine of Rib Lake, WI, and Connie (Lawrence) Goblet of British Columbia, Canada; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, who were like family, Kyle and Alex Schalte and their son, Kenny. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Mahner; and an infant son, Isaac. Kevin will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. 2 Corinthians 5:8 "Absent from the body, and present with the Lord." A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Faith Free Church, 90 East St, Boyceville, WI, with Pastor Stephen Boyd officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Colfax. Sampson Funeral Home is assisting his family.
