LaVonne Meredith Souther, age 96, of St. Paul, MN, died peacefully on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Morning Song Villa in Menomonie, WI. Born December 2, 1921, daughter of Willard E. and Frances C. (Lytzen) Lorenz in Osseo, MN. She was a graduate of Anoka HS and continued her education at the University of MN in related art. She married Burton E. Souther on October 10, 1943. Homemaking/Hospitality became her life’s career. She was an adept leader/teacher for Boy Scout, Girl Scout, and 4-H clubs and was dedicated in faithful service for 73 years to St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ. She expressed her creativity through gardening, writing, cooking, baking, making banners, weaving, and painting. She handmade her own Christmas cards for 74 years and lovingly wrote letters to family and friends over generations. Survived by brother, Robert W. Lorenz; children, Sarah C. ‘Sally’ Conklin, twins, Barbara E. Souther and Richard B. (Judith) Souther; grandchildren, David R. Souther, Anna L. (Andrew) Parker, Brian B. Souther, Caralyn R. (Jack) Schnick, Laura J. Souther; step-grandsons, Craig W. (Mary Anne) Conklin and Jeffrey M. Conklin; two great-granddaughters; seven great great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, a cousin, and dear friends. Predeceased by husband, Burton E. Souther; son, David E. Souther; sister, Geraldine ‘Gerrie’ Jacob; and son-in-law, Roger W. Conklin. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ, 2129 Commonwealth Ave, St. Paul, MN, with Pastor Victoria Wilgocki officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials honoring LaVonne are preferred to St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ, or donor’s choice.
