Lila I. Fjelsted, 90, died Saturday, May 9, 2015, at her residence in Menomonie, WI. She was born in Colfax, WI, on April 16, 1925, a daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Borofka) Schwartz. In 1941, Lila married Donald Fjelsted and together they had two sons, Lanny and Clark, and one daughter, Brenda. Through the years, Lila was her hubby’s life-time partner, being involved in whatever he dabbled in, from riding horses to hard farm work. If you met Lila you could easily love her, as she looked so at ease, whether holding a manure fork or caring for a stray wounded animal. In her spare time, she loved fishing, bowling, sewing rugs, card (Tick), baking, crocheting, and of course, discussing the Bible and politics. She even was a Packer fan. Lila was a devoted Christian, especially following Billy Graham Crusades since the 1940’s. Every Sunday morning was spent watching and listening to T.V. Christian programs. Lila loved life. In spite of her disruptions in life, Lila held fast to her Lord’s nail, scarred hand and through the tears of pain and sorrow, she picked up the broken pieces and pressed onward and upward. Lila leaves behind a son, Clark (Jean) of Red Wing, MN; daughter, Brenda Scheffel of Reno, NV; five grandchildren, Craig and Scott Fjelsted, Kimberly (Fjelsted) Dockter, Nick and Kelly Scheffel; five great-grandchildren, Brenden, Lynsey, Jeremy, Colin and Aidan Fjelsted; three sisters, Mary Braaten of Colfax, Dorothy Cook of Comillo, AZ, and Gladys Tandberg of Colfax; and a sister-in-law, Javerna Fjelsted. She will be reunited again with her husband of 54 years; a son, Lanny; parents; four brothers, Alax, Jerome, Frank and Melvin; and five sisters, Lillian, Josephine, Agnes, Beatrice and Leona. Lila finished her journey, reached her goal and is now resting in the arms of her Lord. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015, at Lower Running Valley Cemetery in Colfax, with Pastor Leslie Walck officiating. Memorials may be given to Mayo Home Health and Hospice, 1221 Whipple Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703.
