Minda Nazier Obituary

Minda Peterson Nazier, age 85, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff of Colfax Health and Rehab Center. She journeyed through the dark road of Alzheimer’s with her family by her side and a sense of humor in her heart. Minda was born June 13, 1929, to Levi and Julia (Larson) Teegarden in Menomonie. She graduated from Menomonie High School and worked at the O&N Lumber Company. She married Erling Peterson, the love of her life, on June 21, 1949. They farmed together north of Colfax, until his death in 1978. Minda later married Elmer “Buzz” Nazier and began a new chapter in her life. She enjoyed those years of her retirement as a snowbird to Florida, until his death in 2006. Minda was an active member of Holden Lutheran Church and served faithfully over the years. Some of her favorite events in the church were the lutefisk suppers and working at the fairstand. Minda loved her family and friends unconditionally opening her heart and home to anyone in need. She was the center of her family and her greatest joy was any gathering with them. She was so proud and loved hearing of each new addition being added to the numbers! Family adventures included being a Disney tour guide for all of her grandchildren and Jellystone camping trips “Griswold style”. She was always ready for a game of cards or dice and loved playing word and board games with the grandchildren. She loved fishing and spent many hours on the slough and lake in Florida. Her sense of humor and laughter will echo through the generations. Dancing came natural to her and she is surely “dancing with the stars”. Minda will be dearly missed by her three daughters, Julie (Mark) Harmon of Colfax, Mary Ellen (Ken) Bjork of Colfax and Erline (Brad) Holman of Rochester, MN; eight grandchildren, Martin (Missy) Harmon, Christopher (Angie) Harmon, Leah (Josh) Kaeppe, Aaron (Gail) Frogner, Laura (Ben) Blomberg, Kyle (Tasha) Bjork, Danah (DJ) O’Neil and Courtney (Peter) Shaw; nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Joy (Ardie) Teegarden; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Peterson and Ellen Luer; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, LeRoy; sister, Anna Mary; brothers-in-law, Sigurd and Clifford; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn, Sylvia, Olive and Ruth. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Holden Lutheran Church, rural Colfax, WI with Pastor Bob Schoenknecht officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave. Colfax, WI, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Holden Lutheran Church Cemetery.
