William Schmock Obituary

William “Willie” E. Schmock, 51, of Colfax, celebrates with Jesus this Christmas after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire. He was born April 7, 1965, to Edgar and Jane (Stertz) Schmock, in Bloomer, WI. Willie graduated from Bloomer High School in 1983, and then went on to serve his country in the US Army. After returning from the Army he attended Chippewa Valley Technical College, graduating from the Electrical Power Distribution program. Willie was always working. Before he could drive, he would ride his bike to the neighbors to milk cows. He milked cows for Mark Kellen and worked at Shadick’s in Bloomer after returning from the Army. He worked at CT Film until he had a work place accident. Willie then went back to CTVC for Mechanical Drafting and had worked at Cedar Corporation, MRM Elgin, Adhan and 17 years at Automation Displays until he was disabled because of his cancer in August of 2014. Willie was a past member of the Town of Howard zoning committee. He also was an active member of the Colfax Sno-Drifters Snowmobile Club since he moved to Colfax in 1994. On April 28, 1990, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, he married the love of his life, Christie Schneider, in Bloomer, WI, where they resided until moving to Colfax in 1994. Willie was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church in Colfax. He was a very involved volunteer at the Colfax School during the years his kids attended. Willie loved helping others. He loved to travel, snowmobile, play cards, and always had a story to share, but received his greatest joy spending time with his family. Willie is survived by his wife, Christie; daughter, Sara (Steven Longdo); son, Scot; grandson, Winston; his mother, Jane Schmock of Colfax; sister, Natalie Mlsna and her children, Evan and Morgan of Fall Creek; sister-in-law, Pam (Don) Knutson and their daughter, Rachel of Colfax; brother-in-law, Tim (Sue) Schneider and Sue’s daughter, Yeoj of Chippewa Falls; mother-in-law, Joan Schneider of Colfax; nephew, Michael (Esther) Schneider and their children, Delaine, Nolan and Emery of Mondovi; niece, Heather Schneider and her children, Dakota and Damien of Bloomer; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Schmock; grandparents, William and Barbara Schmock and Ernest and Rose Stertz. Willie made an impact on anyone that he met and will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church, 123 W. Hamilton Ave., Eau Claire, with Pastor Ron Wik and Pastor Zachary Schroer officiating. Following the services, everyone is invited for lunch and fellowship. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave., Colfax, and also one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.
