Earnest E. Johnson Obituary

Ernest E. Johnson, 75, of Elk Mound, died of natural causes at his home on December 9, 2012. He was born on October 6, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington to Walter and Molly Rose (Fry) Johnson. He attended Eatonville High School in Eatonville, Washington. In 1954 he joined the United States Navy. After serving time with the Navy, he went to work at Phoenix Steel Company (now PDM Bridge) in Eau Claire. He worked there for 31 years before retiring in 1999. Ernest was active with the VFW and American Legion, having served as former commander of VFW Post 7232 in Eau Claire. He was also the current commander of American Legion Post 37 in Elk Mound. Ernest is survived by his children, Cynthia Sander of Roy, WA, Bruce Johnson of Woodland, WA, and Susan Johnson of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren, Aimee Sander and Jeremiah Johnson; and brother, Ron Johnson of Lakewood, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Johnson; and sister, Winnie Rae Zeigler. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012, at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 207 University St. in Elk Mound with Rev. Michael Wollman officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. at church. Burial will be at Waneka Cemetery, Town of Spring Brook in Dunn County with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 53. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Legion Post 37 in Elk Mound.
