Robert Ziebell Obituary

Robert LeRoy Ziebell, 69, of Colfax, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 10, 2013, surrounded by childhood bride of 50 years and his loving family after fighting a courageous battle of leukemia. Robert was born in Eau Claire, WI on April 15, 1943 to Herbert and Mildred (Harrington) Ziebell. Throughout his childhood, he enjoyed time at the Harrington Homestead Farm in Sand Creek. He was a relief officer for the Colfax Police Department alongside of his father, Chief of Police, Herbert Ziebell. Robert married Algie Ann (Olson) on July 21, 1963 in Colfax WI. They had two children Patrick Robert Ziebell and Tina Marie Ziebell. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1961. He worked for Dunn County Highway Department, attended District One for auto mechanics, worked for Berg's Chevrolet in Menomonie, and sold Fuller Brush part time. In 1964 he took a full time job at Colfax Farmers Union for 25 years. His job duties included: auto mechanic, appliance and furnace repairs, delivered fuel, painted barns, and retail sales. In 1988 he took a full time position at Mills Fleet Farm in Menomonie in automotive retail sales and then transferred to hardware and became known as "Bob in Hardware" where he eventually obtained a position as Department Head. He recently retired from Mills Fleet Farm after 24 ½ years of service. He was a life-long member of Colfax Lutheran Church, served on the board, several committees and was treasurer from 1974-1979. Bob's fondest memories consisted of camping, fishing, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In the summer time, he enjoyed being outside growing vegtables in his garden. He and his wife had a fond love for Bluegrass music. They began attending Bluegrass festivals in 1989. Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Algie; son, Patrick (Judy) Ziebell and their children, Benjamin (Georjan) great-grandson, William, all of Eau Claire; Nicholas (Shelly), great-granddaughter, Madison; and Christopher, all of Elk Mound; daughter, Tina Bradford, of Colfax, and her children, Londan Harris of Rice Lake, Chantell Harris of Menomonie, Olivia and Dalton Bradford, of Colfax. He is further survived by brothers, Eugene, of Colfax, Duane (Candy) of Mukwonago; sister, Patricia Lisonbe, of Idaho; brother-in-law, Charles Wolford, aunt, Wynona Severson; cousins, EmmaJean(Harrington) (David) Wright, Lloyd (Diane) Ziebell, Sharon (Severson) (Vern) Nelson, Becky (Severson)(Doug) Westholm; brother and sister-in-laws, Eugene Olson, Mavis (Olson) LaRue, Elaine (Olson) Mahnke, Carmen (Olson) Weber, Gerald Olson, Norman Olson; and also by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mildred (Harrington) Ziebell; parents-in-law, Palmer and Evelyn (Shay) Olson; sister, Kathleen (Ziebell) Wolford; brother-in-laws, Marshall "Wallie", LeRoy Olson ;Sister-in-law, Aurdey (Olson) Knoff ; nephew, John Ziebell; aunts/uncles: Dora Harrington, Juanita Ziebell, Evelyn (Ziebell)(Clarence) Severson, Maurice Severson, Gerald (Margaret) Harrington, and Ernest (Myrtle) Harrington. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax and one hour prior to the service at church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Colfax Lutheran Church with Pastor Les Walck officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Village of Colfax.
