Vonnie E. Flesberg

Vonnie (Evelyn) E. Flesberg, 88, of Colfax, WI died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Colfax Health & Rehabilitation Center in Colfax. Vonnie was born June 24, 1930 in Page, ND, a daughter to Harrison and Olive (Bragg) Leadbetter. She was raised and educated in Valley City, North Dakota and earned her teaching degree from Valley City State Teachers College. On September 3, 1953 she was married to Wendell A. Flesberg. Vonnie taught school in Minnesota and North Dakota, taught preschoolers Sunday school for thirty years and babysat several children. She had worked in the kitchen at Colfax Nursing Home and loved volunteering at Colfax Health & Rehabilitation Center and at the Grapevine Senior Center, where she also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. Vonnie also loved canning, knitting, crocheting, working plastic canvas, talking on the phone and spending time with her family and friends. Vonnie is survived by her children, Evon (Norm) Flesberg Nelson, Ellen (Rod) Maukstad, Donald (Susan), Harvey (Elaine), Verdell (Lisa) and Elaine (Aaron) Flatland; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and brother, James Leadbetter. Vonnie is further survived by sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wendell; two brothers and one sister; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church of Running Valley (14827 County Hwy. A in Cooks Valley) with Pastor Jim Haga officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at the church. Interment will take place at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wheaton, Chippewa County.
