Obituary

Agnes L. "Swede" Stalson, age 76, of Colfax, WI, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at her home with family by her side. Swede was born on December 17, 1938, in South Dakota to Eric and Amanda (Schultz) Larson. The family moved to South St. Paul, MN where she graduated from Humbolt High School in South St. Paul. She had worked for Peters Meats in South St. Paul, MN, when she met and married Billy Ferry. In 1969, they moved to the Wheeler/Colfax area, where Swede resided the rest of her life. Billy passed away in 1987, in Wheeler, in her arms and later on she met and married Herman Stalson. Herman died in 2004, and he died in Colfax, in her arms. The family lived on a "hobby farm" north of Wheeler. Swede worked for Deepwood Ski Area and then for many years at Express Mart in Colfax. Her main occupation in life though, was being a homemaker and raising her five children, whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed knitting and doing (necessary) mending to her childrens' clothing. (If the kids did not mind appropriately, they may have found one of their pockets or legs of their pants sewn shut.) Swede was a great baker and cook. If you stopped by, there was always a pot of coffee on. Doing puzzles and crossword puzzles were always a fun pastime. Swede spent many hours at the Colfax Library and would donate to the local library whenever she could. Most of all, she enjoyed her beautiful grandchildren. Agnes is survived by four sons, Guy Ferry of Wheeler, Virgil (Karen) Ferry of Brooklyn Center, MN, Dean (Penny) Ferry of Wheeler and Tom Ferry of Wheeler; one son-in-law, Rod Lorenzen of Colfax; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Alvin Larson and Virgil (Rose) Larson; one sister, Irene Clark; and lots of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Swede was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Amanda (Schultz) Larson; her husband, Billy Ferry; her husband, Herman Stalson; and one daughter, Doreen Lorenzen. A Celebration of Life will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave. Colfax, WI. Sampson Funeral Home is assisting her family.
