(Maukstad) Hoveland
October 13, 1923 – December 2, 2021
Ardys Maukstad Hoveland, 98, of Colfax, WI died on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Ardys was born on October 13, 1923, daughter of George and Mathilda (Teppen) Maukstad. Ardys's mother passed when she was about 2. She was raised by her Grandmother Maukstad and Uncle Oliver Maukstad. Ardys's father remarried Inga Gillig (deceased) and had one brother and four sisters. George Maukstad, Goldie Isreals, Ethel Tallman, Blanch Mittelstadt (deceased), and Verna McClelland. Three special sister-in-laws, Venona Dalhoe, Barbara Maukstad, and Arlene Hoveland. Ardys graduated from Colfax High School, then went to work for Security Services Corporation in Colfax for several years
Ardys married Vernoid Hoveland on August 17, 1946 at Holden Lutheran Church in Colfax. Ardys was blessed with 35 nieces and nephews, six of which Ardys was a godparent to; Larry Isreals, Dale Knutson, Richard Dalhoe, Richard Maukstad, Debra (Dalhoe) Johns, and Paul Hoveland (deceased). Ardys also had several dear great nieces and nephews.
After Ardys and Vern were married they spent one year in California and 17 years in Milwaukee Wisconsin where Vern was employed with Phenix Manufacturing Company and Ardys was employed at Lace Paper Company. In 1946 Phenix moved to Shawano, Wisconsin where Vernoid continued working. Ardys worked for the city of Shawano for several years.
Vernoid retired June of 1985. They sold their house in Shawano and moved to their lake home in Chetek, Wisconsin. During retirement they traveled the USA in their camper. They also traveled to Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal, and went on several cruises. They spent 20 years in their winter home in Arizona, enjoying their time with good friends and relatives. Her and Vernoid were very active the different churches they belonged to.
Ardys is survived by her brother George and sisters Goldie, Ethel and Verna. She is survived by several other loving family members.
Ardys is proceeded in death by her loving husband Vernoid, mother, father, grandmother, Uncle Oliver, sister Blanche, aunts, uncles, and many other loving family members.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 E. Railroad Ave., Colfax with Pastor Guy Redfield and Vicar Chuck Shingledecker officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:30pm to 7pm on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the funeral home, and again one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held in Holden Lutheran Church Cemetery, Grant Township.
