Arnold H. "Arnie" Michels, 67, of Colfax, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at home. Arnie was born at home on August 2, 1947, to Herbert and Dorothy (Secraw) Michels. On March 29, 1980, Arnie married Theresa Owen at Colfax Lutheran Church. Arnie worked for several farmers in the Chippewa County area, logged with his family, he also worked at Woods Run and Wood Products in Colfax and at Menards in Eau Claire cutting counter tops. Arnie was a very generous man, and would help out anyone who needed a hand. He loved to fish, hunt, garden, and spend time with his family; especially with his grandchildren. Arnie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Theresa; two sons, Gary (Becky) Smith of Colfax and Anthony Smith of Thorp; six grandchildren, Mariah, Alana and Seth, and Angela Joshua and Anthony; four sisters, Lorraine Zillmer, Beverly Michels, June Knutson, and Sandy (James) Lloyd; four brothers, James (Betty) Michels, Raymond (Lanna) Michels, Bill (Linda) Michels and John Michels; special friend, Ken Bennish; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Florence Lange. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015, at Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 River St. in Colfax, with Pastor Leslie Walck officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 E. Railroad Ave. in Colfax, and again one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax.
