Betty Marie Peterson, 94, of Colfax, WI, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI. She was born in Elk Mound, WI, on November 12, 1921, a daughter of Hans and Mabel (Tilleson) Solberg. Betty married Howard Peterson of Colfax on February 24, 1940. She worked for Dunn County Human Services – House Calls of Menomonie. They moved from the farm into Colfax in August of 1979. Betty was a member of the Merry-Mixers and the Senior Center. Betty is survived by two daughters, Barbara Black of Colfax and Bonita Winger of Maple Grove, MN; four grandsons, Derrick Fjelsted, Keith (Angela) Fjelsted, Jeffery Peterson and Travis (Roberta) Nelson; three granddaughters, Taffy (Tim) Myers, Amy (Travis) Reeves and Sheila (Jerry) Eck; seventeen great-grandchildren, Ashley (Hunter) Nelson-Capek, Jacci Myers, Amanda Fjelsted, Caitlin Fjelsted, Elizabeth Fjelsted, Zachary Larson, Kade Styer, Reed Styer, Tyler Nelson, Travis Nelson Jr.,Taylor Melgaard, Devan Hanson, Brittany Hanson, Nathan Fjelsted, Cierra Reid, Savannah Reid and Alexis Eck; five great-great-grandchildren, Mitchell Fjelsted, Natalie and Wyatt Capek, Libianah Myers and Keanan Hanson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Larry in 2010; husband Howard in April 1995; parents; two sisters, Ruby (Alfred) Johnson and Blanche (Hartvick) Halverson; three brothers, Arnold (Lorreta), Gordon (Gudrun) and Victor (Borghild) Solberg; two nephews, Gary Johnson and Steven Klossner; and a niece, Darlene Yvonne Halverson. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Barum Lutheran Church, Elk Mound, with Pastor Stan Shackelton officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Avenue in Colfax, and also one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.
