Blanche Elsie Mittelstadt, 82, of Colfax, died Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center. Blanche was born on October 27, 1933, in the Town of Grant, Dunn Co., to George and Inga (Everson) Maukstad. In April of 1951, Blanche married Alton Knutson and to this union four children were born. Alton passed in 1968. On February 15, 1975, Blanche married Gordon Mittelstadt at Holden Lutheran Church. She worked as an aide at the Colfax Nursing Home when it first opened up and also put in many hours working on the farm for over 40 years with Gordon. Blanche is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Russell Toycen Post 131, and a lifetime member of Holden Lutheran Church in Colfax. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family and crocheting. Blanche is survived by her children, Dale (Teri) Knutson, Catherine (Larry) Froseth, Roger (Angie) Knutson and Donald (Pam) Knutson; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Goldie Israels, Ethel Tallman, Verna McClelland and Ardis (Vern) Hoveland; 1 brother, George (Barb) Maukstad; and also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husbands, Alton Knutson and Gordon Mittelstadt. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 River Street in Colfax, with Pastor Bob Schoenknecht officiating. Burial will be at Hillgrove Cemetery in the Town of Colfax. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 E. Railroad Ave. in Colfax, and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
