David H. Erickson, 79, of Colfax, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at The Neighbors of Dunn County Nursing Home in Menomonie, WI. He was born in Otter Creek, on May 10, 1936, a son of August and Edna (Heintz) Erickson. David grew up in Otter Creek and attended school and graduated in Colfax. David joined the U.S. Navy in 1954 and served until his honorable discharge in 1958. He worked for the Village of Colfax and later work for the town of Tainter as a Patrolman for 17 years. David was an avid fisherman and hunter. He especially enjoyed spending time fishing with his friends on Tainter Lake. David is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Vicki) Erickson of Oakdale, MN; three grandsons, Andrew, David and George Erickson; three sisters, JaVerna Morrill of Menomonie, Vergene "Toops" Viets and Genevieve "Penny" Noer of Colfax. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin Erickson; and significant other, Janet Smith. Memorial Services were held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave. in Colfax, with Pastor Leslie Walck officiating. Visitation was held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Inurnment was held in Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery near Spooner, WI.
