Obituary

Dean L. Naber of Wheeler, Wi passed away February 3, 2025 at the age of 77. Born in Willmar, MN on June 16, 1947, to Edwin and Ella (Gulbranson) Naber, Dean grew up on a farm near Lake Lillian, MN with his five siblings. After High School he attended Minneapolis Vocation Technical Institute and graduated as an Electrician. He worked as a journeyman, became a master electrician and started Naber Electric Company of Northfield, MN. Dean married Val West in 1986, and they made their home in Northfield, MN. It was there they spent countless hours restoring an early 19th century barn for their business. Dean enjoyed serving as a volunteer diver for the Northfield water rescue squad for many years. Dean and Val loved vacations with friends and to see family. Dean traveled to Alaska numerous times to visit his sons and help with projects including towing a DC-6 airplane with his sons, Dan and Dave. He also spent many days relaxing and fishing on Lake Kabetogama in northern Minnesota. He enjoyed many years of deer and turkey hunting in Wisconsin with family and friends. In 1999, they sold the business and retired to a farm in Wisconsin which they restored. Dean took up woodworking and he and Val built their own home. He was proud of that. Dean will be remembered as a smart, faith-filled man with a very strong work ethic and great sense of humor. Dean is survived by his wife, Val and three sons, Dan (Marcy) Naber and David Naber of Fairbanks, AK and Dale Naber of Wabasha, MN; Grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob (Reyna), Lucas, Cadence and Maiea; his siblings, Wayne Naber, Joyce Naber, Dianne (Hank) Ortiz, Galen (Marilyn) Naber and Thomas Naber; as well as many nieces and nephews.
