Earl M. Gunnufson, 74, of Clear Lake, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. Earl was born on July 15, 1938 in rural Colfax to Arthur and Regina (Knutson) Gunnufson. He grew in the Colfax area and was confirmed at Colfax Lutheran Church. On May 12, 1962, Earl married Wanita Steies in Elk Mound, and together with their family they lived in the Chetek area for several years. Earl had worked at Presto National Industries in Eau Claire for 8 years and later worked at Twin Town Cheese Factory for several years. He enjoyed having cookouts with his family and taking rides in the country. Earl is survived by 3 sons, Doug Gunnufson of Alemna, John Gunnufson of Clear Lake and Mark Gunnufson of Cleear Lake; daughter, Debra Gunnufson of Chetek; 3 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; 3 brothers, Roger, Gunnufso, Harlan Gunnufson, and Lyle Gunnufson, all of Colfax. He is also survived by his former wife, Wanita Kargol of Clear Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alton Gunnufson; and his companion Alice Guthrie. A memorial service will be held at Noon, on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Colfax Lutheran Church with Pastor Leslie Walck officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Colfax.
