Elaine M. Hanson, 91, of Colfax, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018, at Colfax Health and Rehab. She was born on April 7, 1926, to Edwin and Maria (Jackson) Gunderson, in Chippewa County. Elaine attended and graduated from Colfax High School and for a short time, she worked at a bank in Oshkosh. On July 21, 1956, Elaine married Omar Hanson and together they raised two daughters. Elaine spent her summers raising strawberries and other vegetables for her family and friends. Elaine is survived by two daughters, Marcia and Diane; two grandsons, Nathan and Peter; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Omar; and six siblings, Ellen, Levina, Hilman, Vernice, Karmeth and twin brother, Elroy. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax, with Pastor Matt Saarem officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lower Running Valley Cemetery in the town of Colfax.
