Elaine M. Simonson, 83, of Boyceville, WI, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. She was born on February 11, 1930, in Dunn County to Michael and Julia (Smith) Flynn. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1947. Elaine married Melvin Simonson on June 8, 1948, at Colfax Lutheran Church. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Wheeler. Elaine graduated from Dunn County Normal School with a teaching degree, taught at Lambs Creek and Wheeler Elementary and did substitute teaching for the Boyceville School District. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and especially loved visiting with her family and friends. Elaine is survived by her one daughter, Susan (Bud) Gilbertson of Boyceville; two sons, Mark (Christine) of Colfax and John (Becky) of Menomonie; sister, Joanne (Roger) Henning of Fall Creek; seven grandchildren, Jill (Travis) Kittilson, Sonja (Chad) Arnold, Brad (Darcy) Simonson, Mike (Kristen) Simonson, Sara Simonson, Lacy (Travis) Creaser, and Claire Simonson; 4 great-grandchildren, Cambell, Madison, Justin, and Willy; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents, Mike and Julia; sister, Elvina Hillman; and three brothers, Robert, Donald, and Richard Flynn. Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 602 W. Main Ave., Wheeler, WI, with Pastor Geoff Scott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave., Colfax, and one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday.
