Frank Roger Hones, 88, of Colfax, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. He was born in Colfax on April 24, 1925, a son of Kenneth and Ragna (Roa) Hones. Roger married Arlene Price. They had lived all their lives in Dunn County. Roger lived all his life on the family farm with the exception of two years between high school graduation in 1943, getting married and taking over the farm in 1945. They farmed 44 years in the rolling land of Running Valley northeast of Colfax. In 1965, Roger was elected to the town board of the Township of Colfax. In 1972, he was elected to the Dunn County board of supervisors, for which he served on many committees and served as chairman of the board for eight years. He was also an officer on the Equity Livestock board and the chairman of the Dunn County unit of the Wisconsin Towns Association for nine years. Roger also served on the church council for many years. Roger enjoyed fishing and hunting all his life; and camping, after retiring from farming. Roger is survived by his wife, Arlene; son, Richard (Jo) Hones; daughter, Linda (David) Martinson; four grandchildren, Sarah Clausen, Christie Smith, Paul Martinson, Amy Allram; seven great-grandchildren; sister, June Hilson; brother, Dean (Connie) Hones; aunt, Betty Roa; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents,; brothers, Kenneth and Don Hones; and a sister, Mabel Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at North Running Valley Lutheran Church in Colfax with Pastor Bob Schoenknect officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax, and one hour prior to the service, Thursday, at the church. Burial will be in North Running Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery in Colfax.
