Gloria M. (Topping) Mittelstadt of Colfax, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 89.

Gloria was born October 29, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to James and Pearl Topping. At a young age she went to live with and was raised by her grandparents, Peter and Molly Harrington in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She was given the nickname Dewney.

She attended Notre Dame Catholic School and McDonnell High School in Chippewa Falls, graduating in 1955. She met the love of her life, Rolland Mittelstadt, at the roller skating rink in Chippewa Falls, where they spent many evenings together. They married October 8, 1955 at Notre Dame Catholic Church and spent 67 years together until Rolland's death in 2022.

After Rolland and Gloria married, they settled on a farm north of Colfax where she was a farmer's wife, Sunday school teacher, and mother to their three children.

Gloria is survived by her son, Rolland Jr. (Mary) and daughter, Barb; grandchildren, Shanna (Nathan) Hoffman, Kyle (Brittany) Secraw, Derrick (Katy) Mittelstadt, Kirk (Becca) Secraw and Logan (Alyssa) Mittelstadt; great grandchildren, Clayton, Emilyn, Etta, Mollie, Maggie, Theo, Beau, Louie, Calvin, Cora, Kalvin and Rory; sisters, Kathleen Guthrie and Linda Linsay-Thorsen and son-in-law, Duane Squires.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kay Squires; brothers, Arthur Griffin and Steven Lopicka; sisters, Barb Hoglund, Sharon Jones, Karen Rohrs, Katherine Frazier and grandson, Tyler Mittelstadt.

The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice, caregivers Kayla and Angela as well as Dort Lee-Jensen and Lois Gotlibson for all they did for her.

A visitation will take place Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4-7pm at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Avenue, Colfax, WI 54730. Burial will take place at Popple Creek Church Cemetery at a later date.
