James F. Peterson, 86 of Colfax, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at his home with his wife by his side. James was born on August 5, 1928 in New Auburn, WI, to James and Amanda (Callum) Peterson. In 1951, James took over the family farm and farmed until 1970. He then worked at Bloomer Plastics and later at Luedtke Manufacturing. He also worked various other jobs at Werner Logging, Beeline Honey Farms, Lammers Food Fest, Town of Grant, Walmart Patio Dept., Colfax Lutheran Church, Colfax Laundromat, and Elk Mound Recycling Center. Jim enjoyed growing crops, gardening, hunting, fishing, and working with his honey bees. He really loved and enjoyed his family. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonny; children, Arlan Peterson of Burnsville, MN, Mary Brennan of Boise, ID, Ione (Tim) Girard of Chippewa Falls, and Tina (Chris) Marler of Menomonie; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and his canine friend, Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; granddaughter, Brandi Peck; brothers, Harold and Stanley Peterson; sisters, Violet Germinhart, Ideana Wood, Clara Bell, Mildred Crogg, and Evelyn Heffernan; parents-in-law, Cleo and Lovica Hopkins; nephew, Tony Hopkins; brother-in-law, Norman Hopkins; and sister-in-law, Judy Hopkins. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave. in Colfax. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014, at Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 River St. in Colfax, with Pastor Leslie Walck officiating. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at church.
