IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Edward
Samens
October 16, 1951 – March 15, 2026
Visitation
Funeral Service
Joseph "Joe" Edward Samens died peacefully at his home in Tilden, WI at the age of 74.
Joe was born on October 16, 1951 to Edward and Jolan (Erdely) Samens. He attended school at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden and graduated from McDonnell High School in Chippewa Falls in 1969. Joe married Barbara (Geissler) Samens on July 17, 1971. The couple raised five boys on their dairy farm. Joe supported his family by working for Chippewa Shoe for 14 years, followed by another 14 years of employment with Glenn Mack Trucking as a mail hauler, all the while farming before and after his shifts.
Joe will be remembered as a dedicated family man with a passion for agriculture and the outdoors. Every year he got his hunting and fishing licenses, but never got as much use out of them as he deserved because of his strong work ethic and commitment to his farm. We wonder how many times the odometer rolled over in Joe's truck as he took leisurely drives around his fields surveying crops, taking stock of his beef herd, and counting deer. He loved being in the company of his grandchildren and taking them to Klinger's to pick out treats. Joe also got a thrill watching online auctions and picking up his prizes.
Joe is survived by Barb, his loving wife of 54 years; four sons, Terry (Cathy), Andy, Randy (Amber) and Greg; and nine grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Anthony, parents, Edward and Jolan Samens and two brothers, Steve and Richard "Dick" Samens.
Funeral services will take place at 12:30pm, Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 Railroad Ave, Colfax, WI with Deacon Dan Rider officiating. Visitation will begin at 10am up until of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Peter's Tilden Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.sampsonfuneralhome.com
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their excellent care and help during a difficult time.
