Julian C. Knutson, 85, died peacefully surrounded by family, Monday, March 4th, 2013 at Colfax Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Barron and was a lifelong resident of Colfax, WI. In his early years, Juel grew up on the family farm. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard, was in the U.S. Army, and a veteran of the Korean war. He met his wife, Patricia Farrey in Shullsberg, WI. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years, as well as a member of the DAV. Returning to the Colfax area, he owned and operated the Texaco Service station, in Menomonie WI for 15+ years. Following this endeavor, he built and owned the Viking Bowl in Colfax, WI. He not only took pride in his business, but he truly relished the friends he made during his time in business. Juel had a passion for, hunting, fishing and the Green Bay Packers. He loved attending Colfax high school Sporting events. He loved kids and animals, especially his dogs "Corky" and "Katie". He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia (Farrey) Knutson; his son, Thomas (Hoopie) Knutson of Menomonie, WI; his son, Timothy (Kristin) Knutson of Elk Mound, WI; his daughter, Teri (Bill) Knutson of Menomonie, WI; his daughter, Tami (Lyle) Whinnery of Colfax, WI; 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren; his sister, Arlene Lund of Eau Claire, WI; brothers, Wallace (Ardella) of Menomonie, WI and Curtiss (Marion) of Colfax, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Knutson, and 4 brothers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 3 to 8 at Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax and one hour prior to the service at church. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Colfax Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Schoenknecht officiating. Burial will follow in the Holden Lutheran Church Cemetery, Town of Grant.
