Mary H. "Matie" Schindler, 87, of Colfax, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Colfax Health and Rehab, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on December 13, 1928, in the Town of Tilden, to Bernard and Anna (Boos) Bowe. On November 15, 1949, Mary married James J. Schindler at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden. Mary and Jim farmed their whole life. She loved to garden, be around family and take care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren Mary is survived by her two children, Deborah (Gary) Klukas and James W. (Vicky) Schindler; six grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Prince, Kristina (David) Irwin, Stephanie (Chris) Dusek, Jason (Shelly) Klukas, Jeremy (Sara) Klukas, and Mandy (fiancée Richard Brackett) Schindler; ten great-grandchildren, Nolan, Brett and Hailey Prince, Jacob Klukas, Xena Dusek, Taylor, Abby, and Kyle Irwin, and Hailey and Kennedy Klukas; sister, Monica Lanners; two sisters-in-law, Mary Bowe and Corrine Bowe; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jim, in 2014; parents; four brothers, Paul, Albert, George and Walter; and four sisters, Loretta Rauscher, Amelia Barber, Bernadine Sykora and Henrietta, in infancy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley with Fr. John Potaczek celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax, with a Christian Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.
