Myrtle Carrie Gunderson, 99, of Menomonie, WI, formerly of Colfax, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016, at American Lutheran Homes in Menomonie. She was born on August 6, 1916, in Wheeler, WI, a daughter of Ole and Clara (Sahlie) Tuveng. Myrtle attended Colfax High School for two years and graduated from Menomonie High School with the Class of 1933. Myrtle married LaVerne "Buck" Gunderson. They owned several businesses together in Boyceville and Colfax. Myrtle also worked for several years at the Department of Human Services in Menomonie. Myrtle was a member of Colfax Lutheran Church and was active in WELCA and the Quilters. Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Sherry (John) Draxler of La Habra, CA; son, Rick (Cathy) Gunderson of Poulsbo, WA; son-in-law, Otto Krueger of Seymour, WI; six grandchildren, Laurie (Steve) Broas of Neenah, WI, Jeff (Heidi) Krueger of Little Suamico,WI, Juli Sanchez of La Habra, CA, Brett (Shannon) Stovern of Fulshear, TX; Kate (Eli) Stevens of Bellingham, WA, and Kristen (Jason) James of San Diego, CA; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nephew, Del (Sharon) Gunderson of Colfax, WI; and niece, Carol Mariaani of Sun City, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Connie Krueger; parents; four brothers; a sister; and a niece, Avis Evenson. Memorial Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Colfax Lutheran Church, 601 River Street in Colfax, with Pastor Leslie Walck presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax. Sampson Funeral Home is serving her family.
