Phyllis R. Jenson, 91, formally of Elk Mound, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 18, 2014. She was born in Elk Mound, on April 28, 1923, to George and Myrtle (Sorenson) Nelson. On September 5, 1942, Phyllis married Eilert H. Jenson at Phyllis' parent's farm in rural Elk Mound. Phyllis enjoyed quilting, cooking, canning, baking and keeping her family well fed. She had a knack for growing plants and usually ended up giving them away and then starting new ones from "slips". Phyllis was an active member of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound. She participated in making baptismal towels, sewing for various mission groups and volunteering her time with the WELCA. Phyllis is survived by her five children, E. David (Joyce), James (Betty), Peggy Sebion, Mark (Jane), and Tim (Kris); twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerry (Dort) and Art Nelson; and also by many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eilert; grandson, Daniel Jenson; infant brother, Millard; two sisters, Marion Larson and Dorothy Daubanton; and a son-in-law, Tilford Sebion. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church, 207 University St., in Elk Mound. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Sampson Funeral Home, 1017 E. Railroad Ave., in Colfax, and again one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at Barum Lutheran Cemetery, in the Town of Elk Mound. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to, Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound.
