Gary Anderson Obituary

Gary J. Anderson, 62, of Colfax, WI died Monday, May 31st, 2021 at his home after spending a wonderful day with his family.
Gary was born to LeRoy and Bernadette (Zwiefelhofer) Anderson at St. Joseph's hospital in Chippewa Falls, WI on August 13th, 1958. Gary attended St. John's Catholic School, Cooks Valley, until it closed when he was in the fifth grade, at which time he attended Colfax Public Schools.
Gary married Ellen Leach on August 11th, 1979 at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley. Together they have three children, Kari, Chad, and Kayla.
Gary worked at various jobs throughout his life. He worked in many positions at Cenex; from Mechanic, where he got the nickname "Chico", to insulating and painting, and feed mill and fertilizer plant. He worked in farming, small engine repair, construction, bartending for and running the family bar, Club 40. Gary then worked for Wood's Run Forest Products for 33 years before retiring in 2019.
For fun, in his younger years, he had many hobbies; from softball, trap shoot, pool, bowling, and dart ball. He enjoyed hunting the most. Deer, turkey, or small game, it didn't matter. His trips to Colorado elk hunting as well as bird hunting in Iowa, with his dog Dakota, were highlights of his life. Gary was a huge Packer and Brewers fan and enjoyed his trips to Lambeau field and Miller Park with family. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He enjoyed getting together on game day and grilling out. He was our master chef!
Gary had a generous side. He enjoyed going into the potato fields and getting a truckload of potatoes to distribute to his family members! He loved driving our son crazy; planting sweet corn on his land and when the time came, he again tried to give as much sweet corn away but he always planted so much the deer usually got most of it. Which worked in his favor because he also hunted there.
Gary is survived by his wife, Ellen, his children Kari Anderson (Brittany Hoffman), Chad and Ashleigh Anderson, and Kayla and Nick Wuollet, all of Colfax; 6 grandchildren Aliyah and Kaitlyn Loofboro, Bradlee Clemmens, and Malachi, Isaac, and Ellie Wuollet. Gary is also survived by his mother, Bernadette Anderson; his sister, Mary (Terry)Beranek; 3 brothers, Ken(Sue) Anderson, Charlie(Teri) Anderson, and Ronnie Anderson(Alicia Calkins); a mother -in-law, Marlene (Johnson) Leach; 2 sister-in-laws, Beth (Les) Kuesel, Sue (Keith) Erickson and brother-in-law, Kevin Leach and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his dad, LeRoy Anderson, his father-in-law, Marlyn Leach and Niece, Brenda (Beranek) Sand.
Gary's family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Hospice for everything they did to help keep him comfortable in his final days.
Per Gary's wishes there will not be a visitation or funeral service. There will be a private family gathering, were his ashes will be spread on his favorite hunting land. Arrangements were entrusted to Sampson Funeral Home in Colfax, WI. Online condolences may be left for Gary's family at www.sampsonfuneralhome.com.
